Damascus, SANA- Damascus University celebrated the graduation of 400 students of Dentistry and Media faculties under the name “Class of Victory 2024”.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Marwan al-Halabi said in a speech at the celebration “Today’s graduates do not merely bear a degree, but they bear the responsibility of a word and an oath, the responsibility of making human beings the focus of their work, their comfort their goal, and their dignity the title of every action and behavior.”
He expressed his hope that the graduates would not stop “striving for academic excellence and taking initiative in research and development” and considered them as “the cornerstone of building an advanced healthcare system rooted in values and open to the future”.
For his part, President of Damascus University, Dr. Mohammad Osama Al-Jabban, considered that the students’ graduation marks the beginning of a new era, entrusted with a major national and humanitarian role.
“They are trustees of what they have learned and are called upon to be active agents in rebuilding Syria, each from their own position” he added.
Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Khaldoun Darwish, pointed out that this is the first class to graduate from the college after the liberation noting that despite the difficulties, the college strives to develop and keep pace with the rapid developments in the profession by working to modernize several of its facilities, opening new laboratories and clinics.
Dean of the Faculty of Media at Damascus University, Dr. Khaled Zaarour, also stated that graduates of the Faculty of Media bear a great responsibility in conveying knowledge and information in the correct manner and with integrity.
